Shockingly there haven't been many updates for a while from deep inside the Roberts Portal. Emily finished up her semester strong but is now taking summer classes. If all goes according to plan, Emily should be graduating by December of 2011. Emily is going to make an incredible counselor and I can't wait for her to use her gifts to help other people. Cole is definitely developing into a very loving and very opinionated young man. His "terrible twos" have been here since 18 months, but he is already showing signs (very small signs) of being obedient. On his good days he is so enjoyable to be around. Gwen has done excellent so far in her first week of life. She is eating like a champ and is only 4 ounces off her birth weight, which is great news. We're home!The nurses at the hospital were super awesome about getting us processed today so that we could bring Gwen home to meet her big brother. We got a clean bill of health from Gwen's pediatrician and Emily's doctor, so we got to head home exactly 24 hours after Gwen was born. October 19, 2009 will forever be a day that our family will remember as God chose this day to bless us with another beautiful baby. Her name is Gwendolyn Joanne. The seminary on-campus apartments have garden plots for rent, so Emily and I put down our $10 and claimed this beauty. For the past week or so, Cole has been making these sucking/popping noises with his mouth. Almost every time we try to get it on camera, he stops doing it. But we finally got it on video the other day.

Cole really loves being in the kitchen when I am cooking. So, I put him in his stroller and wheel him in there so he can see what is going on (or just stare at the bright lights). I made some cookies the other day and he helped out by holding onto the measuring teaspoon for me. Emily took Cole with her to get the mail, but on the way back she grabbed this basket of clothes that was in our car.

My Gators are now 3-0 thanks to their recent 30-6 beatdown of Tennessee, and are ranked #4 in the country. Cole is doing a great job at learning to hold his head up. We give him some "tummy time" 3 or 4 times a day for 2-5 minutes, or until he starts whining. Here is some video of his efforts. Our neighbor, Stephanie, works for an organization called World Venture. The new plan with Cole is to keep him awake between his last two evening feedings so that he'll sleep better during the night. It worked last night, so hopefully it will work again tonight. Even at 39 weeks pregnant, Emily was still willing to go to the beach last week. We stayed for about 3 hours with our friends Randy and Tiffany.
