Cole's Second 1st Birthday

Emily's parents and sister were in town for a week and so we waited until they were in town to have Cole's big birthday (just 6 weeks late). Cole is a pretty big fan of Elmo, so that was kind of the theme for the party.
We invited all of the other kids that live on-campus, as well as all of our adult friends. Here is what the party looked like before it got started.Emily so cleverly decorated cupcakes to look like Elmo. I think it turned out great!
Here is a video of some of the boys wishing Cole a happy birthday!

Here is everyone singing Happy Birthday to Cole!

Cole dives head first into his cupcake.

Happy Second 1st Birthday, Cole!!!!

The Garden, The 4th, and the Cows

The seminary on-campus apartments have garden plots for rent, so Emily and I put down our $10 and claimed this beauty. We got the plot all ready to plant and by the first week of June we had our plants in the ground.

And here is what it will look like today! We have three different types of tomato plants (sugar sweet, cherry, and fantastic), broccoli, sugar snap peas, and green beans.

Cole loves our little trips to the garden. Sometimes he gets to see some of the rabbits that try to get into the gardens.
Here is what our sugar sweet tomatoes look like right now.

Sugar snap peas!!!

Broccoli.....Cole actually likes broccoli, so this will be for him :)

I had to work most of the day on the 4th of July, but in the evening we got to spend some time as a family. We had dinner with a bunch of our friends and had a great time!
Finally, I wouldn't be a good Chick-fil-A employee if I didn't mention that last Friday was our national Cow Appreciation Day. Anyone that showed up at Chick-fil-A dressed as a cow received a FREE meal. So, the three of us went to one Chick-fil-A for breakfast and enjoyed a delicious meal.

Later we headed to my store with our friends Drew & Natalie Hill to grab some free lunch. I gotta say that even though I get to eat free Chick-fil-A every time I work, I never get sick of it.
EAT MOR CHIKIN!!!

Lots of Visitors!!!

After leaving Florida, we never thought that we would live in a place that so many of our friends would ever want to visit. Fortunately, we were wrong. In our first year in Colorado it seems that we have had more friends come visit us here than in Florida.
Stephen, our good friend from our Doulos days, was in town and came over for lunch one day.
The crazy Bridgman Family (another Doulos connection) stopped in to say HELLO on their roadtrip.
They warm our hearts.
Som and Jessica were at Trail West (Young Life's family camp) on assignment for a few weeks, so we drove over (with Drew & Natalie Hill) and spent a day with them. I had spent a total of 9 weeks volunteering at Trail West when I was in college, so it was great to get back after 8 years. It was fun getting to play a round of frisbee golf, something I had done hundreds of times during my summers at Trail West.
Finally, just last week Rob & Erica Marshall (Doulos connection) were in town and we went to breakfast with them. We met at a place in Littleton called "Toast", which Emily has wanted to go to since we moved here. It was great getting to catch up with our friends and getting to try out a bunch of Toast's award-winning pancakes. Yum!
Cole and Rob apparently got the memo on wearing yellow shirts and blue-plaid shorts. Well done, boys.

Papa & Gramee Come For A Visit

My parents flew out to visit us in mid-June. We had a great time hanging out, exploring the Coors brewery, and checking out the Garden of the Gods on Father's Day.

Cole tried to explore a hole in the rocks.

The whole gang at the lookout point. We could see a lot of the rock formations that we had walked by earlier in the day.

It was great to see them and can't wait to see them again when they come to visit after our Baby Girl arrives!
